2 day exclusive Duo exhibition in a secret gallery in India
SachiyoKaneko has been engaged in SHO, so called Japanese/Chinese calligraphy, since the age of 7. She continues to explore the various possibilities of calligraphy in order to transmit this traditional oriental art form to the world and to the future.
Spending three weeks in nature and in the traditional Indian way of life, she found the peaceful symbiosis between the gods and the people in the landscape where people live in harmony with animals.
The cow was chosen as an animal to symbolise God, and the works for this exhibition were done in the desert.
Desert sands mixed with traditional sumi ink created a new texture unique to the region and a primitive expression.
Sarah Michael is a ceramic artist from Holland. The body of work she has created here with the kind help of the local potters is inspired by the many horned cows that reside in the village. The cow is a God in India and is treated with as much respect as any other inhabitant. The firing method here has resulted in some beautiful earthy tones reminiscent of the surrounding desert landscape.
